Rooftops are prime outdoor spaces in urban environments but the exposed conditions can be testing for many plants.
We design planting which will tolerate and thrive in the special conditions, taking into account weight, irrigation and drainage, maintenance issues and style. We often work with architects and structural engineers or directly with clients on new builds.
The brief for this roof terrace was to give the client privacy and evergreen screening from nearby neighbours while preserving the views of the City beyond. Working with the interior designer we designed a wired trellis system and chose plants that could withstand wind. The result is a low-maintenance garden with fragrance and evergreen foliage.
